Born in Newport, a son of the late Charles C. and Annie (Douthwright) Davis, he was a lifelong resident of Swansea.
A graduate of Joseph Case High School, class of 1948, he worked for the United States Postal Service as a Letter Carrier in the Swansea area for 30 years before his retirement in 1990. Prior to that, he worked as a truck driver, and for his family business Douthwright Well Drilling as a Well Driller. He was also a volunteer Fire Fighter for the Swansea Fire Department.
Mr. Davis enjoyed golfing, loved the water, and most of all spending time with his family.
He is survived by two sons; Donald Davis and his wife Patti of Pembroke, NH, Randal Davis and his wife Sheila of Swansea, two daughters; Deborah Guimond and her husband Kevin and Cynthia Davis and her husband Gary Huntress all of Swansea, twelve grandchildren; David Mello, Amy Souza, Lindsey Ferreira, Ryan and Neil Davis, Broc Morse, Nathan Lambert, Erin Davis, Randal Davis II, Sam, Ellie, and Ian Huntress, ten great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. He was brother of the late Hazel and Cecil Davis.
His Funeral will be held Wednesday, December 12, 2012 at 10:00AM in the WARING-SULLIVAN HOME OF MEMORIAL TRIBUTE at BIRCHCREST, 189 Gardner’s Neck Rd., Swansea. Relatives and friends invited. Visiting hours Tuesday from 4:00 to 8:00PM. Contributions in his memory may be made to the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson Research, Grand Central Station, P.O. Box 4777, NY, NY 10163. Burial in Mount Hope Cemetery, Swansea.
