Born in Bristol, RI, a daughter of the late Joseph and Mary (Avelar) Gonsalves (original owners of the STAR Pickling Corp in Swansea), she moved to Port Charlotte, FL with her husband Joseph from Riverside, RI in December of 1989.
A graduate of Joseph Case High School, class of 1943, she attended Johnson and Wales University. She retired as an Accounting Manager from Starkweather and Shepley INC., in Providence in 1983 after 36 years. After retiring she played the oboe with the Charlotte County Concert Band and the Charlotte Pops Orchrestra. She later joined North Port Concert Band and served as treasurer.
She is survived by many beautiful and loving nieces and nephews. She was sister of the late Beatrice Castro, Dorothy Gonsalves, Dolores Machado, Americo Gonsalves, and Louis Gonsalves.
Her Funeral will be held on Monday, May 11, 2015 at 10:00AM from the WARING-SULLIVAN HOME OF MEMORIAL TRIBUTE at BIRCHCREST, 189 Gardners Neck Rd. Swansea, followed by a Funeral Mass at 11:00AM in St. Dominic’s Church, 1277 G.A.R. Highway, Swansea. Relatives and friends invited. Visiting hours Sunday from 4:00 to 7:00PM.
