Born in Fall River, Alice was the daughter of the late Patrick and Catherine (Burke) Butler. She lived in Fall River for many years before moving to Swansea over 50 years ago. She was a communicant of St. Francis of Assisi Church. In addition to being a homemaker, Mrs. Comiskey enjoyed reading, knitting, sewing and sharing stories about her Irish heritage with her children. Her favorite pastime and what she loved most of all was spending time with her grandchildren.
She is survived by her four daughters, Jo-Anne Torres of Palm Harbor, FL, Judith A. Krupa and her husband Kevin of Portsmouth, RI, Jayne L. Cestodio and her husband David of Swansea, and Jennifer S. Comiskey-Ferreira of Seekonk, her ten grandchildren, Jay and Stephen Torres, Scott and Sean Comiskey, Joshua, Jennifer, and Caitlin Cestodio, Meaghan and Bethany Krupa, and Courtney Ferreira, her eleven great grandchildren, her two great great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. She was the mother of the late John P. and Jeffrey T. Comiskey, the grandmother of the late Jonathan Krupa, and the sister of the late Mary Butler Oliver, Helen Tercera, and William, James, Harold, John, Joseph, and Francis Butler.
Her Funeral will be held Friday, February 18, 2011 at 9:00AM from the WARING-SULLIVAN HOME OF MEMORIAL TRIBUTE at BIRCHCREST 189 Gardner’s Neck Road Swansea followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:00AM in St. Francis of Assisi Church 530 Gardner’s Neck Road Swansea. Visiting hours Thursday from 4:00 to 7:00PM. Contributions in her honor may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association 311 Arsenal St. Watertown, MA 02472. Burial in Mount Hope Cemetery, Swansea.
