It’s with great sadness that we announce the passing of Shirley Henn (nee Cormier) on March 5th, 2022. Shirley, in her 78th year, passed with her son Dion by her side at Suncrest Residence. Shirley was predeceased by her husband of 55 years, Rick and he welcomed her with open arms.
Shirley is survived by her son Dion, daughter Charline (Darren) Morris and by her number one love, her grandson, Dylan Morris. Much loved sister of Claire Cormier (late Denise), Freda Chapin (Dan), Wenceslas Cormier (Vicki), Pamela Munn (Craig) and Sister-in-law to Wendell MacDougall, Eldona Cormier & Karen Cormier. Predeceased by her parents Charlie & Judith (nee-Roach) Cormier. Her brothers George Cormier and Claude Cormier. Sisters Marielle MacDougall and Regina & (brother-in-law) Howard Arthur. Always loved and remembered by extended family members.
Shirl and Rick were long time residence of Surrey, BC but a piece of her heart always remained out east with her family. She was happiest with Rick at Loon Lake, at the Vancouver Racetrack or looking after those that couldn’t look after themselves. Many years Shirley would travel up north to look after her dear friend, Mum, all without a single hesitation.
She was as handy as one could be. Rick couldn’t change a light bulb, but Shirl could fix cars, appliances, fences, you name is, she could fix it. Shirley also loved animals. She could never turn her back on an animal in need and often took in strays. She was kind.
We will celebrate Mom this summer when we take her to rest with Dad. She missed him so. It was three long years for Mom without Dad, and I know not a day went by that she didn’t cuss him out for leaving her behind. When Mom decided to join Dad, it was a beautiful sunny day in Vancouver, and we know that mom raised her arms and Dad came to pick her up. They are at peace together.
Mom, we will miss you. There is nothing that can replace a Mothers Love. We want you to know how proud of you we are. You taught us kindness and how to find the best in people. You were a great Mom and an even better Nan. Your patience, kindness and the time devoted to Dylan have left him with cherished memories to carry through life. We love you Mom, and we will always hear the “Call of the Wild” Rest in Peace Mom, we love you.
