Rudy will be loving missed by his 2 sons Dieter and Andy Funke and their families, including his 9 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren as well as Rudy’s long-time friend of 27 years Helga Eschrich and her family. Lesley, Leanne and Kelsey were blessed to spend the last days with Rudy.
He was predeceased by his wife Luise, late of 1987, and son Klaus, late of 2015.
Rudy served in the German army for many years before moving to Canada. He was part of the construction crew that built the “old” Port Mann Bridge when he moved to BC. Rudy loved to use his hands to build all kinds of beautiful pieces of furniture, birdhouses and planters. Rudy loved to tell us stories of his days in the war and his childhood. He also baked amazing birthday cakes and decorated them with butter cream icing!
From 1989 to 2011, Rudy loved to spend many days with Helga travelling many parts of the world; cruising, seeing the sights, and visiting families in Europe.
Many thanks to Tabor Home for their commitment and devotion; making Rudy as comfortable as possible.
