After growing up in Yarmouth, N.S. Roger moved to Lethbridge, AB with his best friend Perry Porter, where they planned on becoming cowboys in the wild west. However, reality hit and Roger decided that pursuing a trade would be better, and attended N.A.I.T. in Edmonton where he received his Gas Fitter Certification. His work brought him back to Truro, N.S., as a branch manager on a new project for Superior Propane. He later transferred to Victoria, B.C. to open a new branch for the same company. In 2001 Roger retired and moved to the mainland with his family, settling in Tsawwassen, B.C.
Roger loved music, playing the guitar, and dogs, motorcycles, sailing, card games, cars, planes, hockey and baseball among other things.
He had a deep appreciation and respect for the ocean and loved nature - but he loved his family and friends most of all.
Always up for a chat, Roger took the time to genuinely connect with people and always left them better than he found them.
Roger battled cancer like a warrior for over 14 years and we are in awe of his strength, determination and courage.
On May 16th 2021, at age 83, Roger passed peacefully at Delta Hospital, BC, surrounded by his loving family.
We are so grateful to have been blessed with having this gentle and caring man as our father, brother, grandfather, uncle and friend.
His was a life well lived and he will be fondly remembered and dearly missed by us all.
Roger’s final resting place will be in the Bain’s family plot in Yarmouth, N.S.
A Celebration of life will be held at a later date.
