"I looked to you for happiness and found comfort in your arms, our love was one of a kind and I enjoyed every minute we spent together”
Joan
After a wonderful life, Gord passed away peacefully with loved ones by his side. Predeceased by his parents, Robert and Margaret Brown. Gord is survived by his wife Joan, son Richard, daughter-in-law Kandie-Rae and his beloved grandchildren Ryan, Emma and Owen.
The family extends our heartfelt appreciation and gratitude for the vital support of his caring sister-in-law Shirley Purkey and her family, as well as the 4th-floor staff at Evergreen Care.
Born and raised in Toronto, Ontario, Gord attended East York Collegiate where he met Joan (Hodgson), the love of his life, and beloved wife of 63 years. He studied at the University of Toronto, graduating in 1959. Gord and Joan shared a lifetime of memorable adventures travelling across Europe and throughout the world. He was tremendously proud to have worked for the International Labour Organization for two and a half years while living in beautiful Geneva, Switzerland. After a long and rewarding career in financial planning with the Ontario Government, they retired to White Rock, British Columbia where they spent 30 wonderful years together.
Gord loved his wife and family dearly. He cared deeply about his family heritage and his Irish roots. He had a passion for vintage model trains and held a lifelong interest in the history of World War II. He proudly spent hours tirelessly working in the yard and around the house. Gord always enjoyed the company of good friends and he loved spending time with Joan at White Rock and Crescent Beach surrounded by the spectacular beauty of the mountains and the ocean.
In recognition of Gord, the family would appreciate donations to the Alzheimer Society or the charity of your choice.
