The Pike family is deeply saddened to announce Reg’s passing after a lengthy hospitalization. He was a loving husband, father, uncle, grandfather, and friend whose devotion and warmth left a lasting legacy to those close to him.
A native to Richmond, B.C., Reg lived his life in the Lower Mainland and parts of Vancouver Island. As a young man, Reg’s confident gregariousness helped him to succeed as a salesman in the construction, lumber, and later, computer software industries. His varied careers created a network of colleagues and customers who would come to remember Reg for his wit and willingness to bond over a laugh or a memory.
In 1971 Reg would meet the love of his life – Barbara. This extraordinary couple would build homes in the communities of Tsawwassen, Sydney, and Nanaimo, but it was back in Richmond that Reg and Barb would settle to raise their two boys, Scott and Bryant. Reg worked extremely hard – through long days and frequent sales trips – to provide for his family an admirable degree of privilege and love.
Reg and Barb’s life was filled with travel and adventure. They keenly looked forward to getting away, either on a cruise or to their cabin on Piers Island, a haven and perfect setting to relax and fish. Their deepest shared passions, however, were the grandchildren. Reg and Barb never missed an opportunity to spoil Max, Miles, Brayden, or Avery. Whether at a birthday, holiday, or in a quiet moment together, Reg cherished every moment close to his munchkins.
Reg is predeceased by his beloved wife Barb, by his parents, and by his brother Rick and sister Lorraine. He will be remembered lovingly by his sons Scott (Kotomi) and Bryant (Deanna), his nephew Brody, and his four grandchildren.
In their honor, a memorial fund for Barb and Reg for the Richmond General Hospital has been established; in lieu of flowers, please consider donating.
Due to current restrictions, a private service for immediate family only is being held. A celebration of life will be held at a future date.
