Phyllis Margaret Scott was a loving wife, mother, sister, aunt, cousin and dear friend. She left this world after battling chronic respiratory failure on November 22, 2024 at age 80.
She was the second of three children and born to Anne and Paul Kowaluk on October 16, 1944. After graduating from high school, she followed in the footsteps of her older sister Evelyn, and became an administrative assistant for the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) in Dauphin, Manitoba. Phyllis was skilled in typing, shorthand and working with others.
Phyllis followed her dreams and friends to Calgary, Alberta where she continued to work for the RCMP and met her husband, Constable Ted Scott. She had a glowing smile and made an immediate connection with Ted. They were married as soon as they were permitted to, and had two children, Jason and Chantelle.
She loved spending time with family and friends, and would take her children to hockey, ringette, soccer, figure skating, dancing and swimming. Phyllis was also active in sports, loved to dance, and made a deal with Ted that she would learn to swim if Ted learned to dance. Ted learned to dance, but Phyllis never learned to swim. She didn’t like to get her hair wet.
Phyllis would put the feelings of others before herself, and had a kind heart. She has left an indelible mark of love on her family and friends. She is loved very much and will be missed dearly.
Friends are invited to say a final goodbye to Phyllis at Victory Memorial Park and Funeral Centre, 14831 28 Ave, Surrey, BC on Saturday, December 14, 2024 from 10 am to 12 noon. A viewing is scheduled for 10 am, and a celebration of life is scheduled for 11 am.
In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to the Peace Arch Hospital or the Canadian Lung Association on her behalf.
Afterglow
I'd like the memory of me to be a happy one.
I'd like to leave an afterglow of smiles when life is done.
I'd like to leave an echo whispering softly down the ways,
Of happy times and laughing times and bright and sunny days.
I'd like the tears of those who grieve, to dry before the sun;
Of happy memories that I leave when life is done.
