Nora Wynne Phillips (nee-Kaye) lived a full life and passed away peacefully at the age of 97.
Nora was born on July 15, 1925, in Toronto, Canada, and was the youngest of seven children.
Predeceased by her loving husband of fifty years, Geoff Phillips, Nora is survived by daughter: Rea Bouwman (son-in-law Greg). Grandchildren Matt (wife Cara), Randi (husband Caine), and Paige. Great grandchildren: Austin, Mya and Asher, Daughter: Robyn Moul (son-in-law Kevin), grandchildren: Trevor and Tessa.
Although she was born in the east, Nora and family soon migrated west. She spent her youth and raised her family in Vancouver, ultimately retiring to the small community of Ocean Park, Surrey.
Following high school, Nora went to stenography school to qualify as an administrative assistant.
Geoff and Nora worked in the same building and often rode the elevator together…some would say the rest is history.
Anybody who knew Nora knew one thing…she had baking chops! Her prowess with pastry was legendary. Nora could whip up a pie as easily as one would make a cup of instant coffee. Peach pie, lemon tarts, Welsh cakes were just some of her family’s favorites.
In addition to her love for her family, Nora had a passion for British television. “No one can act as well as the English,” she would say. Her favorite show was Coronation Street, and she was a loyal watcher for the past 62 years!
A cruciverbalist (crossword enthusiast) and word search buff, Nora would always have several puzzles on the go.
Nora refused to get old, and as much as she tried to remain fiercely independent right up to the end. She did it “her way.”
In honor of Nora’s lifelong love of animals, in lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to your favorite animal charity.
