Marty was born in Mirror, Alberta on March 18, 1923. He enlisted in the Royal Canadian Air Force in March 1941. He received his pilot wings in March of 1942. He served as an instructor until his release in 1945. He re-enlisted as a pilot in 1951. He flew Sabre jets for NATO in Germany in 1957-1960, with the 427 Squadron. From 1960-1965 he flew with 412 VIP Squadron in Ottawa and all over North America. His last 5 years, 1965-1970, he was based in Trenton, ON training other pilots on the DC3's and Convair 580's. He had a very interesting flying career.
Marty married his wife Jean in London, ON in June 1944. They had 15 nieces and nephews. Jean predeceased Marty in June 2015.
He enjoyed golf at Hazelmere Golf course and loved curling at Peace Arch Curling club.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Canadian Lung Association. By request, there will be no service.
