It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Louise Jacqueline Boulet on Sunday June 11th, 2023 after a courageous battle with cancer. Louise is survived by her husband Daniel Zemluk of 40 years and her daughter Vanessa and partner Jan. She also leaves behind her sister Joanne, nephews Sean, Devin and Brendan, her brother Dennis and his wife Agnieszka, nephews Aiden, Bryson and Alan and her youngest brother Ron and partner Carl as well as many close friends and extended family.
Louise was born on July 9th 1958 in Vancouver, BC the eldest in her close family. She grew up in Surrey BC where her parents Lucille and Norman settled after moving from Saskatchewan. During her childhood Louise developed a love for animals and nature, something she would carry throughout her life. Family camping trips back to the prairies would ignite a travel bug in her. As a young woman she explored Europe as a backpacker, worked at a kibbutz in Israel and later lived and explored the Yukon for several years. Eventually, she would move to Saskatchewan to study biology where she met Daniel. They would move back to BC together with Vanessa in tow, the first of many road trips they would enjoy as a family. Louise was a loving and devoted mother who did everything she could to provide the best for her daughter and family.
Louise was an avid crafter and frequently held craft sales at her home, a small hobby farm in North Delta. There, she cared for a menagerie of animals, including pigs, goats, chickens and always a devoted dog or cat that could be seen following her around the yard. Her love of nature drew her to a new home near Burns Bog where Louise and Dan spent the last 25 years enjoying gardening and long walks in the bog. Louise had an eye for beauty and enjoyed collecting and curating vintage treasures to adorn their home. She was an exceptional cook, the life of the party and loved hosting dinners for family and friends.
Louise worked for many years at Canada Post where she was not only a respected colleague but a friend and mentor to many. She was known for her kindness and compassion and willingness to go the extra mile to help others.
She had recently retired and was looking forward to spending time with her loving family and friends. She did this for as long as she could and we take great comfort in the wonderful times we've shared with her.
A small celebration of life for family and friends will be held on July 9th (Louise's birthday). In lieu of Flowers please consider making a donation to the BC Cancer Foundation online via the website bccancerfoundation.com or to Laurel Place Hospice, Surrey, B.C.
