Leticia Padilla

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Letty R. Padilla after a hard fought fight with influenza and pneumonia. She passed away peacefully on July 26, 2023 at the Surrey Memorial Hospital surrounded by family after receiving the Last Rites.

Letty is survived by her husband of 52 years Benito, son Romulo and his partner Jennylyn, grandchildren Marcus, Mikayla and Benjamin, sisters Amelia, Violeta, Luz and Natividad and various nieces and nephews.

Letty was born and raised in Alfonso, Cavite Philippines.

Letty graduated at the University of Sto. Tomas with a degree of BS Pharmacy and passed the Board Exam. She then went to the US to study at the University of Cincinnati- St. Elizabeth Hospital and graduated with a degree of BS Medical Technology.

She had and outstanding career between working in the Philippines, United States and Canada. In the Philippines she worked as a Technical Consultant at Medic Diagnostic, a manufacturer of diagnostic reagents. She worked at the ABM Sison Hospital to set up the different sections of the laboratory until it is in full operation and held supervisory positons in Microbiology. She was head Medical Technologist at the Perpetual Help Medical Center in Las Pinas City. She worked at Ross Memorial Hospital in Lindsay, Ontario in charge of the Chemistry and Microbiology department and at Trail Regional Hospital Microbiology department. In 1980, she moved to Vancouver and worked at St. Paul’s Hospital as Medical Technologist in the Blood Bank until her retirement.

Leticia was an avid cook and exceptional baker. She travelled the world with her husband and enjoyed walks together meeting friends and family. She was very fond of her grandchildren. She was also an active member of the Sacred Heart Parish, very friendly, thoughtful, helpful, kind and generous. After retirement she split her time in the Philippines and Tsawwassen, her home for 43 years.

A Vigil and Prayer will be held at the Sacred Heart Church between 7:00-9:00 PM on Friday August 11, 2023 followed by a Memorial Mass at 11:30 AM on Saturday August 12, 2023.
