Ken passed away on May 3, 2011 after a brief but courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. He is survived by his loving wife of 46 years, Trudy, his daughter Marnie Harold and grandchildren Nolan and Emily, by his daughter Carmen Morneau and husband Scott and by his daughter Jennifer Trueman and husband Doug and grandchildren Lauren and Amanda. Ken was the eldest of 5 children and is survived by his sister Sue Schmidt(Larry), brothers Michael Day and Ronald Day (Sharon) and sister Mary Lynne Goodman (David).
Ken retired in 1998 after 30 years working for H.J Heinz Company. In his retirement Ken continued his passion for working with people in the food industry by participating on the board of directors of the Phoenix Group. He spent his time ‘cruising’ the world, golfing and sharing his time with family and friends and his beloved dogs Grizzly and Enzo.
A Celebration of Ken’s life will be held on May 14th, 2011 at 10 am at Victory Memorial Park at 14831 28th Ave Surrey, BC. In lieu of flowers the family would prefer that a donation be made to BC Cancer Foundation in memory of Kenneth Day.
A special thank you to Dr. Juliette Lau, Dr. H. Wong, Dr. S. Chung, and palliative doctors Dr. S. Minhas and Dr. A. Alexiadis and to the special nurses on the 5th floor SMH Palliative Care team who supported Ken in his journey home—you all know who you are.
