It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, Helen Poulin. Helen was predeceased by her loving husband, Leon, and her dear sister Millie. She will be deeply missed by her children Guy (Vicki), Denise (Jack), Keith, Leslie (Danny), Ron (Carolyn); her grandchildren Dallan, Cheylene (Melissa), Emily, Justin, Nicole (Alex) and Jordan; sisters Jennie and Anne, as well as many other relatives and friends dear to her.
Helen took great pleasure in the simple things in life. She enjoyed the hummingbirds that would visit her regularly, beautiful sunsets and walks on the beach. She would purposely choose a “Charlie Brown” Christmas tree and always root for the underdog. Helen was innately curious and loved a good adventure. She and Dad enjoyed playing cards, dancing, camping and traveling together. One of their most memorable trips was hiking the West Coast Trail. Mom’s adventures were to continue and include hostels in Australia, riding an elephant in Thailand, walking along the Great Wall of China and parasailing in Ixtapa.
Helen loved life and her kind and thoughtful manner touched the lives of many. She was grateful for the many good friends and people that she met along the way. She looked back fondly on the years she and Leon spent raising their family in Prince Rupert, Campbell River and Victoria. In White Rock she enjoyed volunteering in the community, playing bridge and her walking groups.
Most important to Mom was family. She treasured times spent together and had a special bond with each of her grandchildren. We are fortunate to have many wonderful memories to hold onto and Mom’s graciousness, generosity and love filled our lives.
