Helen Mary Anna Foulds (nee Hollowell), of Aldergrove BC passed away on Sunday, October 06, 2024 due to respiratory COVID at the age of 93 years of age, Helen was a month shy of turning 94. Helen was born to her parents Walter and Ann in Battleford, Sask. The family took up homesteading in Saskatchewan in a small two room “shack” as Helen would call It. This home had no electricity, or water. They had to sleep on straw beds and toileted outside in an outhouse. Helen alongside her siblings, John “Jack”, Anne, Margaret and Edward”Eddie” learned the life of farming and resourcefulness, during this time as they had to raise and butcher their own meat, and grow their own produce.
It was when Helen’s parents separated in her late teens, that she moved to a more urban home environment. And from there she eventually met her husband of 58 years, Nelson “Nels” Foulds. Together, Helen and Nels had 3 children; Nels’ son, Barry from a prior marriage, and sons Zane (who died shortly following birth) and Mark. Helen and Nels made their way out west to BC when Mark was 6 months old. At the time, Nels worked on road building crews and Helen was there with the baby acting as the crew cook for the team. They eventually settled in Port Coquitlam BC and lived for 30yrs in the home they purchased there. Then they moved to Pitt Meadows, and resided there for 10yrs till then went to live on son, Mark property in Aldergrove.
Helen had many different hobbies, knitting, crocheting, petit point, bowling, square dancing and old time dancing. However, the one hobby that she excelled at was golf. She won several tournaments and placed gold with the BC summer games twice. Although in her later years, as she slowed down she loved sitting and watching her sports; golf, baseball and curling; not to mention her love of the long running soap opera, Young and the Restless. She never missed an episode and had watched it since its TV debut.
Helen will be greatly missed by all that knew her. Especially her family; Sons, Mark and Barry. Grandchildren, Tanya(Joel), Ryan(Jeff), Lisa, Sonya(Lee), Megan(Dave), Ian(Kristen), Great Grandchildren, Charlotte, Isabella, Ainsley, Zane, Zander, Nora, Levi, Marin, Corbin, Asher, Jerriah, Sister, Margret(Bert) and nieces/nephews; Janice(Rob), Eddie(Jessie), LaurieAnne, Kelly, Terry, Shayne, Debbie and Sheryle.

When I am gone, release me, let me go,
I have so many things to see and do,
You must not tie yourself to me in tears,
Be happy that we had so many years.
I gave to you my love, you can only guess,
How much you gave to me in happiness,
I thank you for the love you each have shown,
But now it’s time i travelled on alone.
So grieve awhile for me if grieve you must,
Then let your grief be comforted by trust,
Its only for a while that we must part,
So bless the memories within your heart.
I won’t be far away, for life goes on,
So if you need me, call and i will come,
Though you can’t see or touch me, I will be near;
And if you listen with your heart,
You will hear all my love around you, soft and clear.
And then when you must come this way alone,
I will greet you with a smile and say
"WELCOME HOME"
