Helen Chen Lee was born in China on September 20, 1941. She passed away peacefully on January 8, 2023 at her home in Richmond, BC Canada. She was recognized as a talented musician since her childhood. Helen was formally educated in Austria and graduated from The Vienna University for Music and Performing Arts, double majored in Voice and Opera Performance.
She won many honors and prizes in music performance from stages worldwide notably in association with prestigious music institutes such as the Carnegie Music Hall, the New York Metropolitan Opera Studio, the Geneva Opera Center in Switzerland and others.
Helen was best known as a dedicated Music Educator. During her more than 5 decades of Music career, she taught vocal music and made music masterclasses in major music institutes in countries including Australia, Austria, China, Italy, Japan, Russia, Spain, Taiwan and many others. She held her last teaching post at the University of British Columbia, Canada.
Helen is survived by her husband Yat S. Lee, son Jay Lee and wife Jessica Yeung, grandson Alexander Lee, sisters Shirley Chow, Marybeth Chen and Margrace Chen-Bennett.
