Gregory George Smith passed away unexpectedly at home on 07 March 2017. He is survived by his mother, Sybil; and by his brothers Lorne (April) and Howie; and by his nieces and nephews Chris, Matt (Maddy), Carley (Aaron), and Katie (Kyle); and by his five grand-nieces Nevada, Avery, Kaydence, Kolby and Kendall.
Greg was born in Vancouver BC in 1945. His father Albert was in the Air Force, and so Greg attended schools all across Western Canada, including Winnipeg, Aylmer, St. Thomas, and Camp Borden, finally returning to North Vancouver to graduate from high school in 1964.
Greg was a warehouseman for most of his working life, spending his personal time writing. A workplace accident encouraged him to retire early, in 2008, to concentrate on his writing. He is the author of several works, including "Lynn Canyon Christmas Eve 1982" and "Recuay (Feathers and Shells)".
Greg was very kind and giving, supporting many families in Columbia, South America and many local charities as well.
Greg will be missed sorely by his family and friends.
The Celebration of Greg's life will be held on April 15, 2017 at 2:00 pm at the Avondale Coop Clubhouse, 13766 74th Avenue, Surrey, BC. The Clubhouse is in the centre of the Avondale Coop complex--guest parking is limited.
