He has been cremated. Funeral to be held at Victory Memorial Gardens in South Surrey, November 26 @ 12 noon. He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Angie, whom he often described as “the love of his life and his tower of strength”, four adult children (two from his previous marriage) and seven grandchildren. Gerry joined the Force in 1959 and over the years served in A, B, E, H, M and HQ Divisions. He retired in 1997 as Officer In Charge, “E” Division Staffing and Personnel. Gerry held a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) degree from Carleton University, Ottawa, a Criminology Certificate from the Canadian Police College and was awarded the Queen’s Jubilee Medal. He was indeed a perfectionist and demonstrated such as a craftsman of fine furniture. He was also a passionate and excellent Harley Davidson motorcycle rider having criss-crossed the USA and Canada numerous times, always on a different route. He wrote various articles for rider magazines, with the emphasis not on HOW to ride a motorcycle (as, in his opinion, such could be viewed as offensive by some riders) , but what NOT to do on a motorcycle! These articles seemed well received and probably saved many injuries, and lives, over the years. He will be greatly missed by many friends, associates & especially missed, loved & remembered by his wife Angie.
The funeral service will be live streamed should you not be able to attend in person. The link below will grant you access to watch the service live or on replay at your convenience.
