George passed away peacefully on March 25, 2025 surrounded by his loving family following a courageous 10 year battle with prostate cancer. Predeceased by his parents and sister, he is survived by his wife Patti, 2 sons Scott and Timothy (Lauren) and many nieces and nephews. He will be deeply missed and remembered for his kindness, generosity, honesty and integrity.

George had a passion for learning. He attended the University of British Columbia where he obtained degrees in both science and accounting and was a member of the Delta Kappa Epsilon Fraternity. He obtained his CPA designation in 1980 followed later by a Fellow of the Canadian Securities Institute (FCSI) designation. After working in industry in various financial roles, George moved to England with Patti where he completed a Masters Degree in Finance at the London School of Economics. George was granted a CF (Corporate Finance) specialist designation from CPA Canada in 2008.

He worked in the financial services sector with Ernst & Whinney (now KPMG), Price Waterhouse (now PWC), Royal Bank of Canada and Pemberton Securities (now RBC Dominion Securities) and was a Senior VP Corporate Finance with Wolrige Mahon, a BC based CPA firm. George held numerous senior financial roles with various companies including Rogers Cable TV, Boston Pizza International and B.C. Hydro prior to setting up his consulting company CANUS Capital Corporation where he provided corporate finance and senior financial management to more than 40 public companies in various sectors including mining, fish farming, medical and media industries. Most recently he held Board of Directors roles as chairman and director and enjoyed numerous business trips to China.

Outside of work, George enjoyed golf, running, cycling, swimming, boating, fishing, snow skiing and world travel. He has many fond memories of the summers spent at the family beach house on Okanagan Lake which became a special gathering place for family and friends over the years.

George was grateful for the extensive medical care he received and would like to thank all the wonderful medical professionals at BC Cancer for their exceptional care and kindness over the years.
