Gail was born on July 14, 1943 to Pauline and Henry Keryluk in Winnipeg, MB. Gail was one of four Keryluk children, twin to brother Larry, and youngest sister to Madeline (Lynn) and Audrey. Pauline and Henry raised their family on Cathedral Ave, next door to the family business, Henry’s Shoe Clinic. Gail met the love of her life; Wayne Lecuyer, by a chance introduction through her brother Larry, and were married in 1966.
Gail and Wayne raised 3 boys: Chris, Jason and Gene, while building their family home in St. Andrews, MB where they lived for 30 years. Gail was a stay-at-home Mom, taking much pride in raising her sons, and eventually enjoying her four Grandchildren just as much. During her time in St. Andrews, Gail was one of an incredibly selfless group of people that helped build the St. Andrews Community Centre into what was the heartbeat of the neighbourhood. Many lifelong friendships were made in St. Andrews that Gail cherished. As the boys married and moved on from St. Andrews, Gail & Wayne followed their sons to East St Paul, MB where they lived for 11 years, and then South Surrey, BC for the last 8 years. Family was very important to Gail, and she was happy to be living close by.
Gail & Wayne enjoyed many family summer days camping around Falcon Lake and then onto a lovely spot at Arnesen’s Rocky Point near Warroad, MN. When the winters came, travelling to sunny locations around the globe was their retreat.
Gail will always be remembered for her big heart, sharp as a tack wit & humour, and perogies! She will be dearly missed but will always be carried in our hearts.
Gail was predeceased by her parents Pauline & Henry, sister Lynn, brother Larry (Bernice), and brother-in-law Auke (Audrey). She is survived by her husband, Wayne, sister Audrey, children Chris (Marnie), Jason (Susan), Gene (Lisa), Grandchildren Justin, Taylor, Joshua, and Paige as well as many nieces, nephews and friends.
The family wishes to express their sincere gratitude to Dr. Preeti Bolina, the staff at Royal Columbian and Surrey Memorial Hospitals, as well as the caregivers at Nurse Next Door, for the support and care shown to Gail during her illness.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations can be made directly to Diabetes Canada or your local animal shelter.
