Francesco Iuzzolino

It is with great sadness and broken hearts that we announce the passing of Francesco Iuzzolino who passed away on August 16, 2023. Francesco joins his brother Nicola, mother Vitella and father Gregorio. Francesco is survived by his loving wife Marisa, children Gregorio and Maria-Vita, and grandchildren Matteo Francesco, Carlo Paolo and Carina Marisa.

Francesco was born in San Gregorio Magno, Italy on February 17, 1940 where he was raised in humble beginnings. After Francesco completed his military service, he studied to be a land surveyor and returned to his hometown to start a successful practice. Motivated for new opportunities, Francesco moved to Canada in 1970 where after working several years in a variety of jobs throughout Canada he was hired by BC Hydro and finally settled down to in Hope and later Surrey BC. At BC Hydro, Francesco traveled throughout British Columbia working in the field to design and setup electrical infrastructure in countless communities. Francesco also served the Italian Canadian community by spending years teaching Italian to youth and adults, and working as a courtroom interpreter who represented Italians who could not speak English.

Francesco will be remembered for being a loyal provider for his family and community, a strong man who endured numerous challenges in his life, a colorful personality, and a wonderful nonno for his grandchildren.

A Funeral Mass will be held at Our Lady of Good Counsel Parish, 10460 139 St, Surrey, BC on August 29, 2023 at 11am. Entombment to follow at Gardens of Gethsemani Catholic Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer or Parkinson Society of BC.
