Edna Payne

Edna Payne (mom) was born August 19th, 1930 to Cornelius and Aganetha Groening in Dufferin, Manitoba. Edna was the youngest of 10 children. At 9 years old, she lost her mother. Her dad then married Susanna about a year later. Susanna was a wonderful stepmom, dressing mom in frilly dresses and shiny black shoes.

Mom met dad, Albert Payne, in 1951 and were married within 6 months. They started building their family right away. They had 3 children, Linda, Bonnie and David. That wasn't enough, so with her big heart, she wanted to foster children also. They then adopted their foster baby, Elizabeth (Lisa) to complete the family.

She lost Bonnie in 1998, and her loving husband in 1999. Mom lived an exemplary life. She lived for her family, including 7 grandchildren (Heidi, Andrew, Brandon, Leah, Emily, Ryan and Daniel) and 2 great grandchildren (Gavin and Alyssa). She was an amazing mother, friend, aunty who embraced everyone who needed to be embraced.

Edna had a deep faith in God. She 'practiced what she preached'.

She went home to meet up with dad and Bonnie and her brothers and sisters on April 8th, 2025 at 5:45 am.
