Doris was born (June 26, 1921) and raised in Burlington Ontario in a happy household (Brant Street) with her parents; Ellen and John Fleetham; her paternal grandmother (Isabella); and younger sisters: Jacqueline (Jackie – 1922) and Margaret (Margie - 1927). All three sisters played the piano, and sang (duets and trios in competition). After public and high school, Doris went to business college and then worked for Niagara Brand in accounting. Doris first met John (Jack) Malcolm when she was 16, in September of 1939 Jack enlisted in WWII and was overseas for 6 years. On November 23, 1946, Doris and Jack were married in Burlington. They started married life in London, Ontario where sons Ian Douglas (1948) and Andrew James (1952) were born. Jack worked for CP Railway, in 1955 he was transferred to Toronto (Springwell Ave, Clarkson), a 3rd son Robert Duncan was born in 1956. The family moved to Montreal (Creswell Ave, Beaconsfield) in 1965, and then in 1974 to Winnipeg (Inverness Blvd). Doris and Jack retired to White Rock (Amble Greene Close) in 1982. After 56 years of marriage, Jack passed away in 2002. Two years later, Doris moved to Sussex House (Martin Street). Doris was an accomplished artist in oil, acrylic and watercolour, she belonged to many art groups through the years. Doris was also active in Church activities (United then St. John’s Presbyterian in WR) including the Church choir, “Happy-Notes”, bizarre and craft groups. Always devoted and supportive of her family, Doris passed away on March 7, 2015 in her 94th year – we were truly blessed to have her in our lives.
