Bryan John Hellyer, died peacefully in his sleep on February 3rd 2021, after a long and courageous battle with the aftereffects of cancer treatments. He was born in Vancouver, B.C. on October 26th 1944, to parents, John and Joan Hellyer.
First and foremost, Bryan loved his family and spending time with his wife, daughters and grandchildren who brought him so much joy. He was a sharp dresser, loyal friend, caring husband, loving Dad and the best Grandpa. He was one stubborn, brave, disciplined and strong man, who had a love of life, his family and the Canucks.
He also loved time spent with good friends and neighbours in Brookswood; playing Canasta, attending dinner parties, and listening to loud 70s hits.
Bryan was an exemplary salesman throughout his life; always making the best deals, caring for his clients, and going above and beyond. Outings with Bryan always included a stop to talk with former and future customers; he just seemed to know everyone!
He loved the mountains and was proud to develop his skiing skills in his 40s; happy to spend time on the hills with his family and friends. He also developed his talent as an artist over the years and loved to draw and sketch.
Bryan had a passion for Classic cars; in particular, Hot Rods. He served as secretary for the BC Hot Rod Association and developed many important friendships through both the BCHRA and showing his cars at different car shows around the lower mainland.
Bryan is survived by his loving wife Lee, daughter Cindy and her partner Ron, daughter Nicole and her partner Michael, and grandchildren Brennan, Ronin, Samantha, Oliver, and Lucy. As well as, his brother Wilf, sister-in-law Judy, sister and brother-in-law Lynne and Bob, and niece and nephew, Cara and Bob.
He is preceded in death by his parents John and Joan, twin sister, Beverly and younger brother Gordie.
A celebration of his life will take place in the future when we can all gather together to honour Bryan. In lieu of flowers, donations to the BC Cancer Foundation in Bryan’s name would be greatly appreciated.
