Wilson Carmelo Rodriguez

It’s with great sadness that we announce Wilson Carmelo Rodriguez, 68, of Surprise, Arizona, passed away on October 22, 2023. He was born on June 6, 1955, in Chicago, Illinois. Wilson was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, padrino, and friend.

Wilson is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Ismalia "Margie" Rodriguez, and their children: Wilson Carmelo Rodriguez Jr, Nicholas Anthony Rodriguez, Albani Velez, and daughter-in-laws Emily Rodriguez and Karina Rodriguez. He was also a proud grandfather to Noah, Isaiah, Abigail, Skylie, and Nikaela. Wilson cherished spending time with his family and grandchildren.

In addition to his immediate family, Wilson is survived by his brother, Johnny Rodriguez, and sisters Aneida Rodriguez, Hilda Ahorrio, and Stacy Orozco. He also had a special bond with many close friends whom he considered brothers. Wilson's sister-in-law, Edmee Ruiz, and her daughter, Erika Ruiz, were also an important part of his life.

Wilson was preceded in death by his father, Carmelo Rodriguez, his mother, Aida Urbina Rodriguez, his brother, Carlos "Charlie" Rodriguez, his sisters, Luz Virginia Lopez, and Danee Russo Rodriguez.

Wilson served his country with honor and dedication as a Gunnery Sergeant in the United States Marine Corps from October 11, 1976, to February 1, 1998. He was a true Marine, embodying the values of the Corps.

After his military service, Wilson pursued a career in TSA Homeland Security. He was committed to ensuring the safety and well-being of his fellow citizens.

In his free time , Wilson enjoyed playing, coaching and watching baseball. He also found solace in reading his Bible and worshiping the Lord. Above all, he cherished spending time with his family and grandchildren, creating lasting memories that will be treasured forever.

A MEMORIAL SERVICE TO CELEBRATE Wilson’s life will be held at Surprise Funeral Care, located at 16063 W Bell Rd, Surprise, AZ 85374. Visitation will take place from 8:00 am to 10:00 am, followed by a chaplain service from 10:00 am to 11:00 am. The procession to the National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona, located at 23029 N Cave Creek Rd, Phoenix, AZ 85024, will depart at 11:00 am. Military services will be held from 12:00 pm to 12:30 pm.

Wilson Carmelo Rodriguez will be remembered as a God-fearing loving family man, a dedicated Marine, and a devoted friend. His legacy will live on in his hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing him.
