Bob was a great and wonderful man who will be remembered by
many. Bob Leslie passed away at home in Surprise, AZ on July
21, 2014 with his family by his side.
Bob was born in Havre, MT on May 20,1942. In 1945, his family
moved to Kalispell, MT where his dad worked as a banker. Bob
started working at the age of 8 as a paperboy. After working as a
box boy at B & B groceries and as a car parts delivery boy, his
best job ever was working at Stan Craft Boat Company on
Flathead Lake in high school. Bob played saxophone in a jazz
band, was involved in student government using the slogan “Get
More With Les,” and had a great love for football where he ended
up being an All-State Center Champion in 1959. Bob graduated
from Flathead High School in 1960.
After graduating from North Dakota State University in 1964, he
was employed by IBM for 32 years. Bob’s highly organized, hardworking,
and detail-oriented skills, along with his personable and
extremely professional qualities made him a successful sales
manager. In those 32 years, he and his family lived in Nebraska,
Illinois, Texas, Albuquerque, Pennsylvania, Minnesota and
Washington State. Hence, IBM must really stand for “I’ve Been
Moved.”
Bob married Barb from Sidney, NE in 1973. They had four
children: Jen, Ryan, Mark and Scott. Scott married Hazel Chao
and had Bob’s first grandchild, Kevin. Vacations included skiing,
camping, boating... and more skiing, camping and boating.
Bob’s sisters include: Linda (Rand) Robbin, Laurie (Myron)
Vogele, Mary Kay Swanson, and Coyla (Dean) Scheel. They loved
their brother and were blessed to have him in their lives. Bob also
had his sister-in-law Kris (Mike) Fruehwald and enjoyed being
with them recently on a cruise through the Panama Canal. “Uncle
Bob” also has many nieces and nephews.
After being diagnosed with colon cancer in 1995, Bob and Barb
decided it was soon time to retire. Bob sold his dream home in
Kennewick, WA and bought a RV. “Life is Good” when you’re
“WETIRED!” While RV’ing they discovered The Grand in Surprise,
AZ and quickly bought a lot and now live in a wonderful
neighborhood.
Bob and Barb spent most summers on Flathead Lake. They
enjoyed boating, fishing, huckleberry picking, and family and
friend gatherings. In winter months, they lived in Surprise, AZ
where he enjoyed woodworking, golfing?? and entertaining
friends.
In 2008, Bob was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. Bob was so
internally strong and determined to beat the “C” word, that he
lived longer than any doctor could have ever imagined. Just
when he thought he was cured, the cancer returned. His will to
live was remarkable. He fought the good fight.
Bob’s strong-willed, witty, flirty and loving personality will always
be remembered. We will always cherish his honesty and his
frankness. He was an all around fun loving man that everyone
adored... so many stories. :)
~~~We love you with all our hearts! You are celebrated and
remembered every second of every minute of every hour of every
day of every year. Thank you for your kindness, support,
guidance and laughter. You are forever with us and in our hearts!
The Leslie Family
Bob’s internment will be at Conrad Cemetery in Kalispell, MT002.
