Grandpa, you were such an amazing, kind hearted, loving man. To the outside world you were quiet and tough, but for family you loved with everything you had. You taught me some great lessons, you gave me thought provoking advice, and you always told it like it was. You were always there for me anytime I needed you, you taught me to fix a car, you taught me to drive, and most of all you taught me “to never let anyone question your integrity.” You always made sure everyone else was taken care of before even thinking of yourself. When I was diagnosed with cancer, you were extremely concerned, and constantly asking how I was doing. You would call me on the phone just to check in and make sure I was okay. I’m sorry that dementia took you from the world, it is such a terrible disease. I’m so grateful that you never forgot who I was, even towards the end. I will cherish all of the time we spent together, the projects we tackled, the trips we took, and the memories made. I am blessed that you and Nana visited me in Colorado multiple times, and that I was able to take you and Nana on a trip to California. I could never do near as much for you as you did for me, but anytime you ever needed me I was there. I know you and Nana are looking down from Heaven, and you will both protect Kaiden as his guardian angels. I miss you more than I could ever express, and I love you with everything that I have. 
Until we meet again, you are in good hands with Nana, your mom, and your sister.

Bob, you and Carolyn were always so kind and thoughtful.  I will cherish the memories made over the years.  You were truly a mans man and a legend.  You and Carolyn are truly missed.

You were such an incredible man. You did so much for everyone all the time. I am so grateful for all the times we had together. You were always my biggest protector and best cheerleader. I will always remember the times we shared and the abundance of things you have taught me. I will always love you forever. See you later alligator.

Papa,
It still doesn’t seem real that you’re gone.  I miss you so much but find comfort in knowing you’re back with Nana, I know that’s what you always wanted.  You and her had a love like no other.  You were always someone I looked up to my entire life.  You were as tough as they come.  There was nothing you couldn’t do.  I always loved coming to spend time at your house.  You’d always make sure I drank that milk in my cereal bowl and I waited at least thirty minutes after eating before getting in that pool!!  You were a true family man and made sure we all knew we were loved.  You never said a whole lot, but when you did, it was important and you meant what you said.  You always told me when I was having a hard time, “Well, it could be worse….I guess.”  Haha.   I miss hearing you say, “Well I’m talking to you Nicole, what are you doing?” when I’d call you to chat.  Nicole is what you’d call me.  I love you always and forever Papa, I’ll hold you in my heart until we meet again.  Fly high and hold Nana tight.  P.S.- We are taking good care of Molly for you and sneak her a peanut M&M every now and then!!  XOXO

Yesterday we celebrated the life of a very incredible man. Most may call him Bob or Robert but to us he was Papa. When I first was introduced to Tyler’s family he brought me to their annual Christmas. From the moment I got there I was so welcomed by both Nana and Papa. His love for Nana was so evident from that very first day I remember thinking if Tyler is anything like this man, I’m in the right place!
  I remember when they first found out that I was pregnant with my oldest Jaxon how happy they both were. Papa was always making sure Tyler was taking all the extra precautions to make sure I was always safe and loved. Including calling him several times to harass him about getting a garage door key made for me so I didn’t have to get out of the car😂 
  Papa took the time out of his day to come over and paint the nursery which was not easy and if you knew him you know when he does something it’s done with perfection! Poor guy had his work cut out for him as this room had been previously painted about 5 different colors of awful cheap paint to cover from the previous owners. Of course it turned out beautiful. 
  To me that’s exactly who Papa was. He was the guy you call. No matter what the issue was he most likely had the answer to your problems. 
  After Jaxon was born he became Papas JJ. We named our son after this incredible man without hesitation. Nana and Papa watched Jaxon a lot in his younger years and I hold that time very dear to my heart. I wish we could have spend more time with him but the time that was spent will always be cherished.

To my dad who was also my hero and protector in more ways than I can count. Growing up I knew I could always count on you no matter what the circumstance was. You were the best father and Papa a daughter could ask for. I still remember as the years passed while we took care of you and the first time you forgot my name or who I was how devastated I was. I knew there would come a time when that would happen but it didn’t lessen the pain in my heart or the tears in my eyes. Now I understand why they call Alzheimer’s the long goodbye. The poem called The Long Goodbye by Paul Andrew’s.  Your memories stolen day by day, As year after year after year is erased, Again and again and again and again, so cruel the long goodbye.  The first goodbye was the name of the day, then the month and the year went a similar way, Lost in the void of time and space, So cruel the long goodbye.  The next goodbye was to your friends who came, To realize you knew not their names, Again and again and again and again, So cruel the long goodbye.  Your memories stolen day by day, As each treasured moment becomes lost in the haze, Again and again and again and again, So cruel the long goodbye. I miss you more and more as the days go by. I hope you’re in peace. Go live your best life with mom in heaven. I love you dad.

Dad,
The best word to describe you is Hero!  You could do anything, be anything, make anything, fix anything.  You were everything! I always knew I could count on you for anything.  You always listened, and didn’t always reply with what I wanted to hear, but what I needed to hear.  You are my HERO!

You were the Dad you didn’t have to be.  You treated me as your own, and never made me feel different.  I have always been so grateful for this.  The older I got, the more I appreciated this.  You are my HERO!

I am so honored that I was able to be a part of caring for you.  As you began to slip away, a part of my heart slipped away with you.  Knowing it was inevitable that you would someday forget my name, or even who I was, didn’t ease the pain, the first time it happened.  I turned my head, wiped my tears, put on a smile, and let you know it was ok if you couldn’t remember me.  This was one of many sad days to come.  You are my HERO!

The hardest thing I had to do was to whisper to you, “Dad, go be with Mom.  We are fine”.  Hours later, you went to be with her.  You are so so missed, and so loved.  I Love you Dad!  YOU ARE MY HERO!

I have so many amazing memories that I will think of and cherish forever. While I  am so thankful you are whole again and in no pain, it sure doesn’t make any of this easy. I am forever grateful for all of the time I got with you. I’m glad you and Mom are together again and watching over us. Thank you Dad for all you did and were my entire life!!  It’s not goodbye it’s I’ll see you later.

I had known of and seen Bob around for many years, but I never worked for him in the package division. He became my manager while I was in the Feeder department in the Phoenix building. We both shared a love of motorcycles and it was fun to hear him tell some of his riding stories.. I am praying for peace for his family, and hope that the best memories come to mind when they think of him.

Bob  will always be my Hero.
