Surprise, Az.-Keith Leroy Eberhart, 77, also known as “Curley”, passed away peacefully August 17, 2024. He was surrounded at his bedside by his sons and wife. He was born November 4, 1946 in Garden City, Kansas to Vernon and Laveta Eberhart. Keith grew up in Deerfield, Kansas and attended Kansas State University where he received his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree in 1971. He married his wife Carol, on December 23, 1966, whom he had dated at Lakin High School. Upon graduation, they moved to Puyallup, Washington where Keith worked at Edgewood Veterinary Clinic until he retired in 2012.
Keith was a member of Edgewood Kiwanis and served as the president and other offices over the years while making lifelong friends. He was dedicated to the local community and contributed in many ways. Besides treating both large and small animals, his passions included golf, hiking, poker, bridge, crossword puzzles, and reading.
After retiring at 65, he traveled back and forth to their home in Sun City Grand, Surprise Az. and their cabin at Lake Cushman, WA. Spending more time in Arizona, he recently became a resident. He became an avid golfer and played four times a week with different groups. Let’s say he was a nontraditional golfer with many enjoying his company on the course and referred to him as “their entertainment”. His sense of humor and quirky ways endeared him to all that knew him.
Keith was dedicated to his family and survived by his wife Carol, his son Casey Eberhart of L.A. California, Casey’s partner David Royer of L.A. California, his son Chad Eberhart and Chad’s wife Desiree of Puyallup, WA., grandson Hunter Eberhart of Yakima, WA, and grandson Bridger Eberhart of L.A. California. He is also survived by his brother Frank Eberhart, and wife Joyce of Buena Vista, CO. and his sister Susan Stratton and husband Bill. Nieces, nephews and cousins are scattered throughout Kansas and Colorado.
Per Keith’s wishes, a private family celebration will be held on Lake Cushman on Sunday, September 1, 2024. An informal Celebration of Life will be held in Surprise, AZ later in October.
In lieu of flowers or gifts, the family requests donations be made to Mayo Clinic in Memory of Keith L. Eberhart at https://philanthropy.mayoclinic.org/donateMC
