John Harry Young, born March 27,1936, passed away peacefully in his sleep the morning of December 18, 2024. John was born in the small timber community of Willard, Washington where he grew up and graduated from Stevenson High School. He moved to Seattle and worked for The Boeing Company for 33 years. During that time, he took a two year break to serve in the Army. John married Diana in 1963 and had one daughter, Karen. She is married to Greg, and they have one son Matthew. John enjoyed the outdoors, hunting, and fishing with many friends and family. John enjoyed his summers crabbing, shrimping and clamming at a small cabin he built in Hood Canal. He was an avid fisherman with many trips to Sekiu, Neah Bay and Lake Wenatchee fishing for Salmon and Halibut. The family also took several trips to British Columbia for camping and hiking adventures. John and Karen enjoyed many beach combing hikes on the Ozette Triangle. Diana and John spent 61 happy years together, traveling and seeing the world as much as possible. They spent several years snow birding in Arizona and California, eventually settling into the Arizona Traditions community full-time in 2019. John will be missed but his family has many happy memories of our time together. Burial service will be private. There will be a memorial for John at AZT in the latter half of January. Thank you to Hospice of the Valley for their competent and compassionate care during the last months of his life valiantly fighting colon cancer.
