James Herbert Ferry, 83, of Surprise, AZ, passed away on January 11, 2013, after an extended illness. James was the 6th child born to George V. and Natalie A. Hays Ferry in Oxford, Nebraska. He attended District 25 in Gosper County for 8 years, and then attended Mascot High School for 3 years. He attended Holdrege High School and graduated in 1947. Jim graduated from Nebraska University with a Masters in Business Administration. After working several jobs, Jim decided to make the Military a career, retiring in May, 1971. He completed a second career with the State of Washington, retiring in January, 1993. Jim enjoyed both careers and was proud of his accomplishments in both. Jim enjoyed retirement in his winter home in Surprise, AZ. He loved to drive and took many trips visiting family and presidential libraries. Jim lived through a tornado, flood, volcano and earthquake. Jim is survived by his wife, Fran, brothers, Francis R. Ferry and his wife, Genevieve, Guy V. Ferry and his wife, Elaine, sister, Marie Ferry Clayton, 3 step-children, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Natalie Ferry and 3 brothers, George, Edward and Robert Ferry. Graveside Services will be held on Wednesday, January 23, 2013, at 2:00 P.M. at the National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona, 23029 North Cave Creek Road, Phoenix, AZ 85024.
