Gerry was a dedicated husband to Nancy for 56 years. Together, they built a beautiful life in Trenton, Michigan, before retiring to Surprise. Gerry proudly served his country as an artillery specialist in the US Army during the Vietnam War. Following his military service, he worked as an engineer for Ford Motor Company for 36 years, where he developed cooling systems for Ford vehicles. Gerry's passion for science was evident in his dedication to his work and his ability to pass on his knowledge to his daughters.
Gerry's two daughters, Betti and Katie, meant the world to him. Betti pursued her passion for human sciences and medicine, while Katie followed in her father's footsteps and became an engineer for Ford, specializing in cooling systems. Gerry's love for his family extended beyond his immediate household, as he cherished the close bond he shared with his sisters, Helen Moore and Evelyn Kosowski, and his best friend and cousin, Jerry Pasek.
In his free time, Gerry enjoyed volunteering for various organizations and lending a helping hand to those in need. He had a mischievous sense of humor and was known for his pranks, always ready to bring a smile to the faces of those around him. A devoted sports fan, Gerry passionately supported the Detroit Lions, Tigers, Red Wings, and Michigan Wolverines. His enthusiasm for sports was infectious and brought joy to many. He was also an animal lover, especially when it came to Brownie, Chopper, Ev, Puck, Gordie, and Gracie.
Gerry's memory will forever live on in the hearts of his beloved wife, Nancy; his daughters, Betti Grab and Katie Helmick (Barry); his sisters, Helen Moore (Harold) and Evelyn Kosowski (Ken); his cousin and best friend, Jerry Pasek; and a host of other family members and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Adam and Helen Grab; his brother, Andrew Grab; his nephew, Ryan Sergent; his brother-in-law, Darryl Sergent; and his cousin-in-law, Carole Pasek.
A celebration of Gerry's life will take place on Friday, October 13th, at 1:00 pm at Fellowship Square in Surprise. The event will be an opportunity for family and friends to gather together and honor Gerry's memory.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to Fellowship Square Surprise Prayer Garden or Sun Cities 4 Paws Rescue. These organizations were close to Gerry's heart, and contributions made in his name will continue to make a positive impact in the community.
Gerry Grab will be deeply missed but his legacy of love, laughter, and dedication will forever be cherished by all who knew him.
