Florangel B. Laxina M.D. peacefully passed away in her sleep at 7:00 A.M. on Monday, October 10, 2011 after a long, lingering illness at Sun Creek Home in Surprise, Arizona. She graduated at the Far Eastern University in Philippines in 1963 and worked in the Virgin Islands for 2 years from 1965 - 1967. She then moved to Phoenix, Arizona, where she pursued residency training in Internal Medicine and Fellowship in Pulmonary then practiced with the Maricopa County Health Department until she retired 10 years ago. She has been active with the Philippine American Lions Club and joined medical missions in the Philippines and Mexico. She has also been active with the Filipino Club and the Philippine Seniors. She was extremely devoted to her family. She followed to the letter her promise to her parents to help and care for her 3 brothers and their families. She enjoyed our pilgrimage, especially with Bishop William Gomes and treasured best our trip to Jerusalem and Rome. Kind and soft-spoken, we will always remember Flor and we ask for your prayers. She was preceded in death by her parents, Inocencio and Angela Laxina and brother, Jose and wife, Asuncion Laxina. She is survived by her 2 brothers and their families: Narciso (Narsing) and wife, Fe, their children, Jimmy and Cindy. Jimmy with wife, Ana, and their children, Alyssa and Jian. Her second brother, Poten (Feliciano) and wife, Quirobin, their children, Angelito, Gracia and Maria Victoria. Angelito with wife, Anna, and kids Anilov and Aira. Children of Maria Victoria, Marfy and Jomar Kasim. Funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, October 11, 2011, at 4:00 P.M. at St. Claire of Assisi Catholic Church, 17111 W. Bell Rd., Surprise, Arizona 85374. Visitation will follow from 5:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at Surprise Funeral Care, 16063 W. Bell Rd., Surprise, AZ 85374.
