William “Bill” Munson, a devoted father, proud grandfather, and talented craftsman, passed away on December 25th, 2024 at the age of 74. Born on August 29, 1950, in Alton, Illinois, to Dorthy and Harry Munson.
Bill grew up surrounded by the warmth of his family and the close bonds of his siblings: Bonnie Carr (Houston, TX), Fran Fin (Baton Rouge, LA), Harry Munson (Alton, IL), and Laura Dewein (Godfrey, IL). The Munson family shared many cherished memories that shaped Bill’s deep appreciation for life and family.
In 1985, Bill married the love of his life, Julie Paisley Munson, and together they built a life full of love and devotion over 25 wonderful years. Tragically, she passed away in 2010, leaving a void that Bill carried with him.
A man of great skill and vision, Bill dedicated much of his career to designing and building stunning golf courses across Southern California, leaving behind a legacy that brought joy to countless players and communities. Golf wasn’t just his profession; it was his passion. On the rare days he wasn’t working, you could often find him on the course perfecting his swing or enjoying a friendly round.
In addition to golf, Bill had a love for poker and the camaraderie that came with a good game. His sharp wit, competitive spirit, and warm personality made him a beloved companion at the table and in all areas of life.
Above all, Bill was a dedicated family man. He is survived by his two daughters, Erin Slepitza (married to Andrew) and Amy Munson. He was a doting grandfather to Julie and eagerly anticipated the arrival of his second grandchild. His family was the light of his life, and his love and pride in them were evident to all who knew him.
Bill is preceded in death by his parents, Dorothy and Harry Munson, as well as his beloved wife of 25 years, Julie Paisley Munson.
