On December 23, 2021, Sharon Arlene Van Slyke (78), passed away while surrounded by loved ones. She was born in Idaho Falls, Idaho on September 17, 1943 to Ernest and Harriet Foreman. She was the youngest of three children and is survived by her brother, Bill Foreman, and predeceased in death by her husband Gary, brother Dale Foreman and both of her parents.
Sharon’s favorite subjects in school were English, Music and Art. She was creative, artistic and hard working. But mostly she was feisty! She played the piano like an angel and sang in her school choir. She was always beautiful and turned many heads in her day. She attended secretary college after high school.
She met her husband, Gary Lane Van Slyke, while working at Sears. They married a year after meeting and brought three children into the world. They were married for over 50 years when Gary passed away. She is survived by her oldest son Greg, her daughter Lori, and her youngest son Jimmy.
Sharon lived in many places in her lifetime including Idaho, California, Arizona, Missouri, Massachusetts, and Washington state. With each move she created a home out of a house. She also held many jobs. Her passion was working with special needs children and helping the elderly. She also worked as a receptionist in countless dental offices.
Sharon’s favorite job and title was that of Mother and Grandmother. She is survived by 7 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. She was blessed to have her daughter-in-law, Crystal, care for her in her latter years and sit vigil at her bedside as she crossed over into Heaven. Also at her bedside were her sons Greg and Jim.
Sharon’s passing will leave a big hole in the lives she touched, but this I am sure, Heaven will be a better place with louder music and brighter colors because she is in it. We Love you Mom and will forever remember what you gave to us while you were on this earth.
