Ronald was born on July 20, 1953, at Christian Welfare Hospital in East St. Louis, IL, the son of Henry Logan South and Dolores Faye Martin. He married Eugenia Whitehead on January 1, 1974, in St. Elmo, Illinois, after entering the Marines for service at age 17. He attended Kaskaskia College in Centralia, IL. Ron and Eugenia were married for 25 years and resided in Belleville, IL and St. Louis, MO, where he pursued a career as an independent insurance broker and served as a Regional Director for Zurich Life Insurance for several years. Ron remarried Kathy Rigby and resided with her in St. Charles, MO until her death in 2015. He moved to Sun City, AZ in 2015 and retired with his significant other, Sylvia Vinson-Miller. He is survived by his significant other Sylvia Vinson-Miller of Sun City, AZ; daughter Kristin (Phil) Stevens and grandchildren Connor and Ava of St. Charles, MO; daughter Courtney (Chris) Files and grandchildren Graham, Olive, and Arthur of St. Charles, MO; and daughter Stephanie (David) Stair and grandchildren Nora, Reid, and Sophia of Chesterfield, MO. He is also survived by his mother Dolores Kombrink of Sun City, AZ; brother Gary (Tess) South of Albuquerque, NM; brother Michael South of Columbia, SC; and many cousins, nieces, and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Henry Logan South, step-father, Les Kombrink, and wife, Kathy Rigby South. His interests were boating, fishing, RV’s, firearms, cars, volunteering for the Sun City Posse, and spending time with Sylvia, his daughters, grandchildren, and many close friends he made throughout the years. Ron was a believer in Christ and enjoyed his time at his church, Circle of Peace.
The memorial service will be on Saturday, August 26, 2023 at 1:30pm MST, at Circle of Peace Church, located at 8430 W Deer Valley Road, Peoria, AZ 85382.
