Robert C. Herman was born June 4, 1930 in Burlington, Vermont to Harold Young Herman (Oxford Township, Warren County, NJ) and Katherine Canfield McMurtrie (New York, NY). Robert graduated from Belvidere High School on June 18, 1948 and completed his bachelor of arts from Lafayette College on June 6, 1952. He enlisted in the US Army on July 31, 1952 and served until July 30, 1955 as Sgt. of 352D Comm Recon Co. After serving his country, he was hired with American Airlines in April 1956 until his retirement in 1983 as Assistant Vice President. His civil life and retirement was full of interests and activities that include volunteering with the city of San Luis Obispo and Sun Health Auxiliary, traveling to London, Spain, Germany, Russia, France and Pacific Northwest, and participating in activities while at Brookdale such as bingo, Brookdale football pool, and enjoying all the friendships made while there.
Those left behind to cherish his memories are friends, Carey and Cindy McAfee, Ole and J'Neil Mackey, Amy and Sean McAfee and Jess Lee.
