Jim leaves behind his beloved wife Barb of 65 years, his children Kim (Mark), Allen and John (Cathy), his grandchildren Lynne (Dan), Kevin, Brian and Michael, his great-grandchildren Ellie and Lilly, brother Ray, sisters Izzie, Helen and Ruth Ann, their spouses, nieces, nephews and many friends. We will all miss him.
Jim joins his grandparents, parents and oldest sister Rosalee in Heaven.
Jim was born in North Dakota, which he called “Gods’ country”, on September 21, 1935 to Max and Mary Heiser. He met Barb in Valley City, ND during high school. Upon graduation, Jim enlisted in the Army, married Barb, attended the University of North Dakota on the GI bill and earned a degree in Electrical Engineering. Jim and Barb had three children during that time. Jim retired after a successful career at Cooperative Power Association.
Throughout his life, Jim enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, family vacations, cruising with friends, golfing and playing Black Jack. He rarely missed Sunday mass.
When Jim was diagnosed with Alzheimers, he met the disease with dignity, grace and humor. This was an immense blessing to his family.
Jim will be laid to rest at Fort Snelling Military Cemetery. Jims’ funeral service and celebration of life will be held at a later date.
