When Patsy (as she was known then) was still young, her father died unexpectedly. Her mother moved the family to the United States looking for a safer, more secure life. First living in San Leandro, California, the family eventually moved to Southern California for Patsy’s high school and college years.
Patsy became known as Patti Kinney as she attended Catholic schools in California, eventually graduating from Ramona Convent in Alhambra.
From Ramona Convent, Patti went to the University of Southern California. There, she rekindled her friendship with Phil Prince. They had known each other in high school (Phil went to St. Francis in La Canada) but began dating seriously at college. She left USC before graduation to enter the Air Force family with Phil and soon began to raise children of her own.
Patti and Phil had five sons and travelled the world with the United States Air Force. Over the next 30 years, they lived in Phoenix (Arizona), Taipei (Taiwan), Panama City (Florida), Montgomery (Alabama), Aviano (Italy), Mascoutah (Illinois), Novato (California), Newport (Rhode Island), Niceville (Florida), Altus (Oklahoma) and Fort Worth (Texas).
Along the way, Patti completed her BA at Southern Illinois University-Edwardsville and her MSW at University of Texas, Arlington. She earned her licensure as a LCSW and worked for many years as a therapist.
Upon Phil’s death in 2002, Patti followed her spirit guides to Sedona, Arizona. She lived there for 10 years before moving to Sun City West and, eventually, spending her final years in Sun City, Arizona.
Patti was a thoughtful, spiritual person. From an early age, she embarked on a life-long quest for meaning and purpose. Whether looking into faraway stars and galaxies or into the faces of her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Patti found value. She always knew that her life was not meant to be one of making money or amassing earthly fortune -- she chose instead to create relationships with those who would become her large, extended family.
Patti will be dearly missed.
