Born on October 17, 1979, in North Olmsted, Ohio, he was the cherished son of Mitchell and Arlette Bryk, loving brother of Maria Lopez, best buddy to brother-in-law Jordi Lopez and adoring uncle of Isabel Lopez. Known for his kind heart, gentle nature and infectious smile, Michael created feelings of warmth and acceptance around those who knew him well.
A few of Michael's interests included history, reading, music, movies, animals and skiing. From the time he was a young child, he expressed an eagerness for fact-finding, especially in the realms of science and history. He had a passion for research and sought to understand the nuances of any area he pursued, and this eventually led him to the field of archaeology. In college, Michael performed his field study in Italy, just outside the walls of Rome, which was a memorable and thrilling experience for him. Throughout his professional career in Arizona, he worked closely with indigenous communities and demonstrated great respect for their customs and beliefs, which was a natural reflection of his thoughtful and compassionate personality.
Michael loved spending time with his family. One of his favorite past times was re-watching much-loved movies with his family, including The Hunt for Red October, Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade and The Big Lebowski. He was adept at quoting lines from favorite movies and usually had one at the ready in any conversation. The comfort of their family relationships afforded them the ability to veer from silliness and laughter to deeper talks about life in their hours spent together. Michael approached conversations with his family and friends with intent, sincerity, and curiosity, always giving his full and undivided attention and presence.
Michael's legacy of kindness, passion, and adventurous spirit will live on in the hearts of those who knew him. He will be deeply missed, but never forgotten.
A gathering to celebrate Michael's life will be held on Saturday, July 27, 2024, at 1:00pm at the Arizona Broadway Theatre (Encore Room), located at 7701 W Paradise Ln, Peoria, Arizona, 85382.
