Lonzetta Graham was born in Kansas City, MO to her Parents Roosvelt Smith and Elmira Smith on April 19, 1951. She was preceded in death by her parents and two step brothers Franklin Smith and Percey Smith. Lonzetta transitioned from this life at her home in Surprise, AZ on December 26, 2024.
Lonzetta grew up in Kansas City where she attended the Public Schools. She graduated from Central High School in 1969. Lonzetta had a curiosity for technical items. This led her to employment with Southwestern Bell until the late 1980’s. She was one of the first women to work in special areas for Southwestern Bell normally reserved for men setting a trend that exist today. To enhance her skills Lonzetta successfully completed her studies at DeVry University in Kansas City receiving a Bachelor of Science in Telecommunications Management Degree in 1992.
After leaving Southwestern Bell Lonzetta was employed with Norwest Bank (Wells Fargo) where she was on the special banking system installation team first in Minnesota and later in Western United States. She eventually made the Phoenix area her home where she worked as a telemarketer for home warranty systems until her death.
Lonzetta was a long-time member of the Christian Methodist Episcopal Church Detroit District. She gave her life to Christ at a young age at her home church, Second Baptist of Kansas City, MO.
Lonzetta spent 35-years with her partner Steven Speyer until his death.
Lonzetta had no children in this life but will be Cherished by her brother Louis Smith of Kansas City and Sister Lorraine (David) Rentie of Grandview, MO and Lestine McFarland of Kansas City, KS; Nieces Angel Smith and Daina McMullen; Nephews Wasilah Smith, Louis Smith, Jr. and Marcel Smith. She will be sorely missed by a host of cousins, friends and co-workers. She will be especially missed by her special friend Andy Voldbaek of AZ.
