Linda chose to be cremated so there will not be a viewing. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, January 31st at 10:00 am at Sunland Memorial Park and Cremation Center located at 15826 Del Webb Blvd., Sun City, Arizona, phone: 623-933-0161. Services will be conducted by the Reverend Doctor Sandra Fox.
Linda was born at Sacred Heart Hospital in Manchester, New Hampshire to Rita and Amede DeBlois on March 30th, 1948. She attended Bakerville School and Memorial High School graduating in 1966. She married Robert E. Farrell on November 27th ,1971, in Litchfield, New Hampshire.
She worked at various clerical positions including Sanders Associates in Nashua, NH, Package Machinery Company in East Longmeadow, MA, and Penn State University, in Erie, PA where she worked for state funded Ben Franklin Organization which focused on economic development projects for the state. She retired from Penn State University in 2003 and moved with her husband to Arizona.
While living in Springfield, MA, she was a teacher’s aide, lunch mother, Girl Scout leader, and Sunday school teacher at the United Methodist Church. Linda arranged through our church, for us to host a family of six “boat people” from Viet Nam for five months. While in Erie, she served on a committee to restore the Erie Playhouse. During that time, she also hosted several foreign exchange students from Germany.
Linda is preceded in death by both parents and two sons, David Patrick Farrell (age three months) and Corey Newton Farrell (age 17 years).
Linda is survived by her spouse, Dr. Robert E. Farrell, her daughter, Wendy Colleen Farrell, her brothers, Thomas DeBlois and David DeBlois, and sisters, Sandra O’Brien, and Janice Scala, and half-sister, Darlene DeBlois. Linda has one grandson, Robert V. Farrell.
Memorials may be given in Linda’s name to your favorite Cancer Society.
The family of Linda wishes to extend our sincere thanks to all who have sent prayers for Linda’s recovery during her illness. She is resting in peace now.
