We are shocked and devastated to announce that our beloved Kay H. Magee gained her angel wings on August 27, 2023. She was called home by our Lord in a peaceful manner surrounded by loved ones. She was gentle, kind, and loving; we are blessed to have a permanent mark etched on our hearts from her.
Kay was the first born to Kenneth (Ken) and Virginia Hogren(Ginny) on January 21, 1948 in Colona, Illinois. She grew up with her 2 sisters, Linda and Barbara, and her brother, Kenneth on a farm where she learned to love animals, reading and quiet. She graduated from Orion Community Unit High School in 1966 and continued her education at Moline Public Hospital School of Nursing (Class of 1969).
After earning her RN she entered the Army before marrying the love of her life, John “Jack” Magee. After leaving the Army she continued her nursing career in various locations and departments until Jack retired from the Air Force in Arizona where she spent her last 25 years of her career at Sun Health, Boswell Hospital in Sun City, Arizona. As a nurse she was attentive, gentle, and went above and beyond to help her patients and their loved ones.
Outside of work, Kay raised 3 mischievous, and at times, very challenging children. She was loving, nurturing and had the patience of a saint. She was very excited to be a grandmother. Known as “Nana” by Tyler and Taylor; she loved spoiling her grandchildren. She volunteered at their schools, attended all of their sporting and musical events, and would do anything to ensure their happiness.
She will be walking in heaven pain free with her beloved husband Jack, and her parents Ken and Ginny Hogren. She leaves behind many loved ones including her children, Scott, Jody (husband Adam), Jennifer, and her 2 grandchildren, Tyler and Taylor. She will also be deeply missed by her siblings, Linda (husband David), Barbara (husband Lawrence), Ken (wife Sue), her sister-in-law Dorene, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. She will also be deeply missed by her granddogs Coco, Ginger, Jeanie, Pippa, and Spooky and the other various animals in the Mooberry horde.
The visitation for Kay will begin at 2:00pm with a small service starting at 2:30 on Friday, September 8, 2023 at: Sunland Memorial Park and Mortuary 15826 N Del Webb Blvd Sun City, AZ 85351.
