Joel Douglas Gray passed away on 9/28/14 at the age of 67 after an extended illness. His passing was quick and smooth. Joel was born on 2/27/1947 to Margaret D. and Paul I. Gray in Dayton, Ohio. He was the second of three children.
He spent his early years in Dayton before moving to Celina, OH. He graduated from Celina Senior High School in 1965 and worked for Dayton Tire and Rubber for several years. In 1980, he was diagnosed with Hodgkin’s Disease and was a survivor. He graduated from Wright State University and Arizona University and became an Aeronautical Engineer. He worked for Sperry flight Systems and later Honeywell in the Flight Management Systems department until his retirement in 2002.
Joel was preceded in death by his parents and sister-in-law, Judith L. Gray. He is survived by his brother, Paul O. Gray, of Celina, OH and a sister, Kellie M. Gray, of Sun City, AZ. He has a niece, Michelle R. (Rod) Showalter and a nephew, John P. Gray, both of Celina. There will not be any services here. His wish was cremation and spreading of his ashes in Hawaii.
