Ilse Jahn Bolster died peacefully February 10th at 102. Ilse came to the United States from Germany as a young girl with her parents, settling in Ohio. She graduated from Case Western Reserve University, and with her sister Gertrude, taught German to American officers during World War II. After her mother’s death, Ilse moved to Phoenix to be with her sister, working as an Executive Secretary for Honeywell. Post retirement, she lived in Sun City, where she met Horace Bolster, a retired Agricultural Attache, and they married in 1995. They had 7 happy years together before Mr. Bolster died in 2002. Ilse was also pre-deceased by her sister. Until recently, she lived at the Heritage Palmeras in Sun City, where she was active in numerous committees and had many friends. She loved to plan and go on outings and to play bridge. Survivors include her step-sons Archie and Robert of Virginia, 3 step-grandchildren (Christopher, Matthew and Amy), and 8 step-great-grandchildren. A memorial gathering for Ilse will be held at 10:30 am on Saturday, February 18, 2017 at Sunland Mortuary, 15826 Del Webb Blvd in Sun City, www.sunlandmemorial.com.
