Peacefully passed away on Monday, 9/8/14 of Parkinsons. Herby was born in Hackensack, N.J. on 8/23/25 to Herbert G. and Anne Kinzler Kreppel. He was predeceased by his parents, two brothers and one sister. He is survived by his sister, Eileen, his loving wife of 43 years, Marilyn, his children, Anita (Jerry), Herb Jr. (Madeline), Maureen, and Catherine; his grandchildren, Matthew, Adam, Kelly (Scott), Jason, Christopher, Jeremy (Christina), Sarah and Justin; his great-grandchildren, Gina, Wynton, Jaeden and the newest one, Laylah. Herby was proud to serve his country in the U.S. Navy 1943-1946 (WWII). After the war, he and his brother, Ray, developed R&H Kreppel Co. in N.J., and retired from there in 1977. He joined the Masonic Temple in 1956 (or 1957) and was nearing 60 years of service. He also belonged to the Shriners, the Jesters and the Billiken Club. He was a volunteer with the Passaic and Bergen County (N.J.) Sheriff’s Departments, and when he moved to Arizona in 1977, he joined the Sun City Posse and served as Commander in 1981. A member of the Sun City Saturday Bandits Golf Group, he loved the sport of golf and enjoyed playing until the onset of his illness. He was an avid hunter and spent almost 30 years hunting in Pennsylvania with his two dearest friends, George and Dave. Oh, the stories he would tell about their trips! He will be sorely missed by his family and friends. Herby, we love you! Services are on Friday, 9/19/14, and are being provided by Sunland Mortuary, 15826 Del Webb Blvd., Sun City, Az. Viewing is at 1 p.m., Masonic funeral at 2 p.m., with a reception following the funeral, at the mortuary. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Shriners Hospitals for Children can be made in memory of Herbert C. Kreppel and mailed to El Zaribah Shrine, 552 N. 40th St., Phoenix, AZ, 85008.
