Eleanor “Elle” Jones McGinnis, 107 years young, entered into rest July 28, 2014. She was born July 10, 1907 in Chicago, Illinois, and graduated from Lakeview High School. Eleanor furthered her education at the Chicago Art Institute. While in Chicago, she modeled for some time for two major department stores and also spent some time retouching photographs for prominent Chicago photographers. Eleanor later enjoyed a career as an executive secretary for a large Chicago company.
Eleanor married Edward Henry McGinnis of Chicago, Illinois on October 7, 1939. Together they lived in East Lansing, Michigan during the late 40’s. In 1953 they moved to Grand Junction, Michigan and resided there until retiring to Sun City West, Arizona in 1981. Eleanor’s beloved husband Edward entered into rest February 14, 1998.
She was an artist and enjoyed oil painting. Eleanor also loved interior design, cooking, entertaining, cats, and poodles. She belonged to several clubs and organizations, was a member of Westernnaires, the Sunshine Serenaders and the Scandinavian Club.
Eleanor is survived her daughter, Merrie Melanie Wilson, formerly of Sacramento, California and now residing in Inman, South Carolina; grandchildren, Jennifer C Henson (Shannon) of Inman, SC; Edward ‘Scott” MacGregor (Paula) of Rancho Cordova, CA; great-grandchildren, Melanie J. MacGregor, 17; Claire Binner-MacGregor, 15; Roree C. MacGregor, 8 and Wyatt J. Gulledge, 7. She was preceded in death by her parents, Franz Gustav Jones and Melanie Sophia Larson; sisters Pearl C. Borgeson (Carl), Ruby A. Jacobsen (George) and niece, Patricia M. Borgeson.
Eleanor was known for being a classy, social and sophisticated lady who had an elegant posture; admired by many. She radiated love and was always smiling. She had a charming nature. Eleanor was adored by all who knew her and will be sorely missed.
