son of Adam and Mildred Konieczny and died on April 1, 2024, at his home in
Sun City West Arizona with Erma, his beloved wife of 64 years at his side.
He received his education at Catholic Central High School in Grand Rapids,
graduating in 1950. After graduation he joined the US Army and was
stationed in West Germany during his time of service. Upon his discharge he
briefly went to work for Walter Hagen Golf prior to taking a position at
Spartan Foods as a warehouseman until his retirement in 1992. On
November 28, 1959, he was united in marriage to Erma Varga. Together they
had a daughter Sheila. He remained in Grand Rapids until his retirement
then relocated to Black Canyon City, Arizona and spent his final years in Sun
City West, Arizona.
Eddie’s passion was landscaping in both Grand Rapids and Black Canyon
City. He spent countless hours beautifying his yards, always seeking
perfection. His landscaping in Grand Rapids was the subject of newspaper
reporting and his ability to make primal desert land bloom was admired and
enjoyed by all who knew him.
Eddie will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend
to all who knew him.
Eddie is survived by his wife Erma, daughter Sheila (Patrick) Lynch of
Naperville, IL, a granddaughter Shannon Lynch of Naperville, IL and a niece
Susan (Marty) Brockschmidt of Greenville Michigan.
He was proceeded in death by his parents, three sisters Esther (Bernard)
Lawkowicz, Lucille (Edwin) Ference and Sophie (Chet) Bielecki.
A Memorial Celebration of Life will be celebrated at 10:00 am on Monday
April 15, 2024, at Sunland Memorial Park, Mortuary & Cremation Center
