Donald Ray Smith, 84, of Sun City, AZ, passed away December 22, 2010. Donald was born on May 26, 1926 in Altadena, California to William and Nigria Smith. He is survived by his loving wife of over 62 years, Lois Smith, his daughters: Karen Hartman, Nancy Ellis and Sandra Walker, his grandchildren: Tracy Acosta, Crystal Blanton, Darrah Metcalf, Lauren Ellis, Kyle Ellis, Gilbert Walker, Leah Walker and Garret Walker, his great grandchildren; Michael, Nicholas, Cambry, McKinley, Kloe, Kyler, Kyla, Sophia and Noah, and his three brothers: Bob Smith, Paul Smith and Keith Smith. He is preceded in death by his daughter, Linda Smith; granddaughter, Terry Walker; his sister, Dorothy Smith and his parents,
Donald was a Detective with the Los Angeles Sheriff's Department for 25 years before retiring in 1991 and belonged to the National Rifle Association. His most loved hobbies, besides his family, were hunting, shooting, tile working, fishing and the outdoors.
Donald was a loving man and will remain in all of our hearts. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Hospice of the Valley.
There will be a Visitation on Wednesday, December 29, 2010 at 4 p.m. and a Service on Thursday, December 30, 2010 at 1:00 p.m., followed by a Graveside Service and a Reception. All services are going to be held at Sunland Memorial Park and Mortuary, 15826 Del Webb Blvd, Sun City AZ 85351.
