Don was born in Portageville, MO with his parents soon moving to Detroit, MI when he was only 2. As a young man, he had a large paper route saving the money for a bicycle and comic books.
Between his Junior and Senior year his parents relocated to a farm in Byron, MI where he graduated from High School.
It was on this farm where he learned various agricultural aspects but enjoyed gardening, gathering eggs, and to drive a tractor.
After high school his parents relocated again to Howell, MI. Don found a job at a tool and die company where he joined their apprentice program. Being successful in that training he became a journeyman.
That move to Howell placed Don next door to the girl he would marry. Don and his wife Joan would move to Livonia, MI where he would excel to a management position within the tool and die industry and later rose to become the president of that company.
Don enjoyed working on cars and built a modified production race car that would win the National Hot Rod Association US National Drag Racing championship. He also collected antique cars, music boxes, and Victorian furniture. He designed and built two homes, and also redesigned and remodeled four others.
Along the way he was blessed with two sons that he was very proud of. Upon his retirement he moved to Arizona. He thoroughly loved to travel. During the last 10 years, he and his wife were fortunate to be able to travel in their RV and tour all 48 contiguous states,
He was a member of the Family Motor Coach Association, the AiM Club, Entegra Coach Association and the National Music Box Society. He was also an avid NHRA Drag racing fan.
Don was a soft spoken, gentle and kind man with an infectious smile. He loved his Lord, Jesus Christ, he loved his family and cherished time spent with them. He will be missed but will be loved and remembered in our hearts forever.
Don is preceded in death by his parents Wilma and Carrol Crockett and his son, Brian Crockett. Don is survived by his loving wife of 57 years Joan and son Donald M. Crockett (Jennifer) whom will miss him greatly.
